Waterra SBD-25 Surge Block – Standard Flow
The Waterra Inertial Pump is well known for its ability to remove sediment from monitoring wells. This ability is enhanced with the addition of the Waterra Standard Flow Surge Block SBD-25 to the Standard Flow Inertial Pump foot valve D-25. The Surge Block increases the outside diameter of the D-25 valve to marginally less than the ID of the 2” Sch 40 PVC monitoring well. Operating the Inertial Pump with a Surge Block attached creates a plunging motion in the well and sand pack which breaks down bridging and cleans drilling fluids and fines from the sand pack and well screen.
The monitoring well is properly developed by operating the Inertial Pump-Surge Block through the length of the well screen, beginning at the top of the screen and gradually lowering it through the development process. Well development can be a tedious process which usually requires a powered actuator like the Hydrolift-2 or PowerPack is required for this job.
